Gelephu Mindfulness City is envisioned as a place where spiritual depth and human creativity come together. Rooted in Bhutan's spiritual values and guided by His Majesty The King's vision, the city seeks to harmonize progress with inner awareness, and development with balance and wellbeing.
At its heart, Gelephu is a mindfulness hub. It draws inspiration from Bhutan's living Vajrayana tradition while remaining open to other Buddhist and wisdom traditions that share the aspiration to cultivate compassion, clarity, and insight. The intention is not only to preserve sacred heritage but to create a living environment where timeless wisdom can find new expression in the modern world.
Spirituality forms the foundation of Gelephu Mindfulness City. Sacred sites, retreat centres, and institutions of learning come together to shape a community where mindfulness and contemplation are part of everyday life.
To date, fourteen sacred projects have been granted Royal Kasho (Royal Edicts) and are officially recognised within the Gelephu Mindfulness City development. These are the only projects formally endorsed as part of the city.
